Abstract

Medical management options for hair loss have only been available for the past 15 years; and only two products, minoxidil and finasteride, are FDA approved for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. Many medical therapies, some legitimate and others unfounded, are available on the current market. This chapter endeavors to review both traditional and newer pharmaceutical methods to treat hair loss and to highlight several natural, herbal remedies and adjunctive measures that have been used for management of hair loss.
