Abstract

Amongst research that cover a number of banking units located in several countries and owned by individuals, public companies or government – the problem is the same. The operating “culture” is different as different owners and regulators make different rules. Also, these “cultural” differences are not limited to country differences, but could include anything that influences certain DMUs differently so that direct comparisons are incorrect, unfair and/or inequitable. In this next example, the cultures of studied DMUs were sufficiently similar to permit direct comparisons.
