Abstract

The outcome of any operation is contingent upon matching the appropriate surgical approach with adequate exposure to facilitate the successful performance of the task at hand. Although the majority of mitral valve surgery is performed via a left atriotomy, in concomitant procedures involving the tricuspid valve, the bi-atrial trans-septal approach offers access to both valves for repair or replacement.
