A radical overhaul of BCS membership requirements to give greater recognition to information technology (IT) experience and to supplier and other qualifications has been proposed in a major review commissioned by the governing council. This is in consideration of the need of the industry to be supplemented with non-traditional skills which are typically more visible than the technical skills held by BCS members. The BCS working party agrees that BCS should be inclusive, providing service to the IT community and welcoming all who wish to join. Any relevant qualifications or expertise that members have should be considered and should provide a clear development path that will enable them to progress within the BCS grading structure.
