Intergenerational programmes can be loosely understood as initiatives that increase cooperation, interaction, or exchange between any two generations, and which involve the sharing of skills, knowledge and experience (Ventura-Merkel and Lidoff, 1983). While all intergenerational programmes have the potential to foster learning, some initiatives make learning objectives central to their mission and objectives.
