Isotope dilution technique combined with isotope analysis by mass spectrometry is a preferable method for the determination of 0.1 μg of Sr and Ba, and 1 μg of Ca, resp., in sodium salts. For the concentration range of 1-1000 ppm the relative standard deviations are for Ca 1.2%, Sr 0.6% and Ba 0.7%. A discussion of the propagation of errors allows the selection of optimum conditions for this analytical procedure of isotope dilution. Limits of detection are calculated. © 1966 Springer-Verlag.
