Leading universities in tourism and hospitality research: A bibliometric overview

Abstract

This study presents an overview of the most influential and productive institutions around the world in the tourism, leisure and hospitality field. The research uses a bibliometric approach to examine all the journals indexed in the Web of Science database in these fields. Results show a strong influence of the USA institutions, although institutions from other countries also achieve an important and significant position in these fields. Results also consider the temporal evolution of the leading universities and the most productive institutions in the tourism, leisure and hospitality field.
