This chapter introduces the other Europe as a conceptual perspective that promotes a fresh look on the development of Big Science in Europe since the second half of the twentieth century. It argues that these projects can be regarded as crucial aspects of political and scientific activities in the recent history of Europe; aspects that are, however, different from those so far foregrounded by historians, sociologists or political scientists studying European history and integration.
