Abstract

According to the latest information, eight out of ten COVID-19 deaths occur in adults 65 years or older. They are at higher risk for developing serious complications from COVID-19 illness. The management of COVID-19 in the elderly requires understanding the pathophysiology of aging, the different clinical presentations, anesthetic considerations, and treatment guidelines specific to geriatric patients. We have included a small section on new advances and recent treatment advances in this subset of our vulnerable population.
