Abstract

This paper describes algorithm used for computing optimal transmission power in battery powered wireless sensor networks. The algorithm is based on standard ATPC, but allows for further data consumption reduction in non-critical application. The algorithm keeps link quality at required level providing the lowest possible transmission power. With use of transmission power tables it provides reliable operation in networks, where no acknowledge signal is sent after transmitting data. The algorithm has been designed for integrated meter reading systems, where data is being sent over long distances on public radio frequency. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
