Abstract

In pot experiments with Phaseolus vulgaris cv. Hawkesbury Wonder, the gas exchange behaviour of 2nd, 3rd and 4th fully expanded trifoliate leaves was studied with differing CO2 partial pressures. The pool size of RuBP in leaves was determined using a specially designed spring-loaded freeze clamp to halt metabolism. The predictions of a model of the response of photosynthesis and RuBP pool size to changing internal CO2 pressure are discussed.
