Short Glossary

Abstract

The text provides a glossary of some key concepts of Italian territorialism as approach paradigm to cities and regional studies: Territory/Territorio, Territorial Heritage/Patrimonio Territoriale, Invariante Strutturale/Structural Invariant, Territorial Statute/Statuto del Territorio. The purpose is to enhance the understanding of the aforementioned concepts - originated in a specific and localised scientific-cultural context - in other research environment that, although adopting and practising some comparable conceptual stances, are framed in different socio-cultural domains. A definition is provided for each item whereas its cultural origins and/or use within the territory planning and governance tools are summarised.
