Abstract

In this research the spatial accessibility of ambulances to the urgency centers in the city of Manizales, Colombia, is analyzed. An example of the social inequalities present in Latin-American countries is seen in the health services, where the objective is looking for the good health and life of all people in a city. However, spatial distribution and access to different sectors of a city by the ambulances is not equal. Hence, for some communities ambulances must travel longer distances, being this of especial importance in life-threatening emergencies that must be solved in a very short time. The work shows that the low-income sectors of the city of Manizales have the worse conditions of accessibility from the ambulance dispatch centers.
