Abstract

Fiber-reinforced plastics have demonstrated their potential as a lightweight material for the future. However, in order for widespread use in mass production to be possible, automated processes are required. One approach for the automated manufacture of complex structures is the over braiding technology, which is characterized by its high productivity and high automation potential (Fabich et al. in Over braiding technology for economic mass production of textile preforms, 2011).
