Abstract

This paper describes why the Web of Things is required and how HTML5 technologies and Open API mashups can be used for the Web of Things. The Web of Things is to use Web technologies to provide value-added services through communications between smart things or between them and their users. Today, consumer electronics (electronic things) is closely related to our lives, and are becoming increasingly smart. However, these things should be able to easy access to provide services that users want, rather than smart independently. Problem is can't to create interactive applications to easily combine the various heterogeneous things. HTML5 Web standards and Open APIs mashups can provide the develop methods that are simple, lightweight, loosely-coupled, scalable, and flexible for developing those applications. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
