Abstract

Psychomotor stimulants belong to two major classes: direct and indirect sympathomimetics (such as cocaine and amphetamine) and nonsympathomimetics. This chapter will focus on indirect sympathomimetics. These compounds include drugs such as cocaine and amphetamines, which share a common molecular structure - a benzene ring with an ethylamine side chain.
