Abstract

Diabetic emergencies are common; other endocrine crisis less so. Be able to interpret the various metabolic abnormalities, on routine chemistry and arterial blood gas analysis, associated with each emergency, and be able to calculate the serum osmolality. Also be familiar with the changes in thyroid function tests with thyroid disease.
