Post partum depression is a mood disorder that appears immediately after the women gave birth in thepast 4 weeks . In women who have postpartum depression, interest and reduced interest in the baby,the baby is unable to recognize the need to respond so positively as expected because they feel helplessor incapable. Aims : determine the magnitude of the incidence of postpartum depression experiencedby 3-7 days post partum, especially for mothers who are in Polindes PONED Malang Public HealthCenter. Study design used was descriptive survey. The population is around 3-7 days post partummothers in June-July 2012 as many as 134 people. Samples totaling 100 postpartum mothers who metthe inclusion criteria and were taken by multistage sampling. Instrument used was a questionnaireEdinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale. The results showed that of the 100 respondents are mothers,43% who experience postpartum depression. The analysis using Incidence Rate, as many as 321 peoplefound the calculation of maternal postpartum days 3-7 1000 3-7 days post partum mothers whoexperience postpartum depression.
