Abstract

Stage I a cancer among early ovarian cancers should be classified because of revision of FIGO classification in 1987, therefore preservation of fertility has become expected to date. Furthermore, a maximal debulking surgery as an initial operation, compared to a staging laparotomy, has yielded favorable results in the clinical outcome of advanced ovarian cancers in recent years. Surgical treatment will still make a major role in the future as one of the multiple therapeutic modalities in this disease, although a complete cure can not be obtained by only surgical treatment.
