Abstract

Breakthroughs in the crystallization of functional complexes of the ribosome have led to the structures of a number of important states in the translational pathway. Nevertheless, there are still no high-resolution structures of initiation complexes, or those of the ratcheted ribosome in the pre-translocational state or during recycling These remain important goals in the structural biology of bacterial translation
