Abstract

In South Africa little is known about spirituality in social work pedagog}'. This paper reports on a qualitative study which explored educators' personal experiences of spirituality and their views with regard to its inclusion in education. It also explored their views with regard to appropriate content on spirituality for social work education and its integration into current teaching. Analysis revealed diverse conceptualisations of persona! spirituality and also that spirituality was an important part of social work practice and education. It also revealed considerable support for the inclusion of spirituality in pedagogy through a gradual interweaving of it into existing courses.
