Abstract

The architect Jørn Utzon arrived in Majorca in the 1950s, and some years later built himself the house known as Can Lis. It has recently undergone a careful restoration process (2012), which involved some of those who helped build his second Majorcan home, Can Feliz, in the 1990s. The Island Council is currently appraising Can Lis as a possible listed building, and the present article draws attention to its special value as well as the restoration itself. The Danish architect is shown as the exponent of a different kind of tourism to the usual package variety associated with the island.
