Abstract

The article focuses on a process developed by the U.S. International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Consulting Services that can be used by local governments for transforming their 911 dispatch centers. It stresses the need of proper collection and access of data for decision-making and discusses the development of a sustainable management information system. It also mentions how the village of Glenview in Illinois successfully used the ICMA's consulting service.
