One of the main moral principles of virtually all major religions and cultures is the ethic of reciprocity, sometimes known as the Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated. Show mutual respect. This Golden Rule is also a fundamental principle of the process of peer review, including the review of manuscripts submitted to professional journals. If you have been asked to review someone’s article, it is very likely the case that you are an author yourself and will have been subjected to the same peer-review process. Keeping in mind how you expect your own journal submissions
