1 When you look at then and now, how do you think the environment has changed? If you were to do a similar study to-day, what are some issues that might be different from those that were crucial in the 1980s, than in the early 1990s? Anthony Bryk: The motivation to write Catholic Schools and the Common Good really started with the observation that fi rst occurred in the work of 1 Anthony Bryk, Valerie Lee, and Peter Holland published Catholic Schools and the Common Good (Harvard University Press) in 1993. Most of the research for the book took place in the 1980s.
