Abstract

This chapter offers a detailed overview of the EU’s military operation, EUFOR Althea, in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). The chapter provides a thorough reading of the context the EU operation was deployed in, coupled with an inquiry into the telling and acting of peace “goods” and the varied dialogical moments these entail. Zooming in on the main peace good on offer—the EU’s objective of contributing to the safe and secure environment in BiH—the chapter details the particularity invested in defining security in very traditional and negative peace terms and how this speaks to the BiH context at hand.
