Abstract

As the theory of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is based on its predecessor,Analog Signal Processing (ASP), a study of analog signals and systemsis necessary. This chapter handles the representation of analog signalsand systems in the time domain and in the frequency domain. Coretopics covered are continuous-time convolution, analog transforms(Fourier and Laplace), analog filters, and random signal analysis. It also includes some applications of ASP like signal detection innoise and radar range estimation.
