Polarisation phenomena and membrane fouling

Abstract

The phenemenon of concentration polarization is described and its inherent relationship to membrane separation examined. The extent of its occurrence is considered and factors causing flux decline discussed. Models for predicting and describing concentration polarization and membrane fouling are described. Methods for reducing fouling are outlined. (P.M.T.)
