Abstract

This chapter reviews common and important sources of error in non-traumatic thoracic imaging, with sections on pleura, mediastinum, aorta, pulmonary arteries, and a pattern-based evaluation of the lung. Practical clues for atypical presentations and common mimics cover both radiographic and cross-sectional imaging. The CT pulmonary angiography section includes tips for avoiding and correcting technical limitations. Dedicated coverage for thoracic imaging in vulnerable patient populations contains special considerations for peripartum and oncology patients.
