Abstract

A case of extramedullary plasmacytoma originating from the epipharynx is reported. A 56-year-old woman was referred to us because of epipharyngeal tumors. The tumors were pediculated and soft. The tumors were removed. Histological examination showed that the tumors consisted of well-matured plasma cells. The cell were found to be neoplastic as they produced a monoclonal ramda light chain. The patient received postoperative radiotherapy. No local recurrence or progression to multiple myeloma was noted after 5 years. © 1990, The Society of Practical Otolaryngology. All rights reserved.
