A 62 yer old man suddenly presented with a pure left sensory deficit involving only pain and temperature sensations. CT scan and MRI showed a small haemorrhage in the dorsolateral part of the right midbrain. This suggested a lesion limited to the right dorsal spinothalamic tract.
