As new societal learning goals are formulated and people and technology shape, grow, and challenge statistical practice and thinking, educators respond through researching, imagining, and implementing new curriculum approaches. In our reimagining of curriculum approaches, we have chosen to discuss learning experiences that all students could engage in as part of their enculturation into thinking from a statistical perspective. These learning experiences are immersion into data-rich environments, probability modeling, an emphasis on using visualiza- tions for conceptual development, a focus on evaluating data-based arguments, and fostering statistical reasoning. We also argue that these curriculum approaches can- not be embedded and implemented without attention to professional development of teachers and assessment practices. New research orientations emanating from these possible changes are identified. Keywords
