In bovine farming, the productive system can be organized in three main steps, called create, to recreate and termination. The confinements appear as a model alternative for the termination, which under multifactorial influence may or may not achieve higher yields can or not achieve higher profitability than grassland or semi-confinement. The raising of these questions is increasingly routine in a society that continually increases its demands on quality, good production practices, animal welfare, traceability and sustainability. In this work of revision will be approached the themes related to the natural behavior of cattle, the implications of behavior under confinement of animals and aspects of management and practices aimed at minimizing the negative effects. The alternatives presented converge with economic aspects, animal welfare and productivity, and they must be applied according to the objective and the system adopted in each respective property.
