Abstract

Epilepsy is a symptom of cerebral dysfunction. In patients with epilepsy, evidence of this dysfunction can also be manifest in the form of intellectual, learning, behavioral, and affective disorders. Children with epilepsy have a higher incidence of these types of disorders. Additionally, some epilepsy syndromes may have more specific neuropsychiatric disorders associated with them. This chapter reviews the assessment and presentation of neuropsychiatric comorbidities in pediatric epilepsy with a focus on the function of specific brain regions.
