Abstract

This condensed radiobiology chapter aims to describe the underlying biology of radiation exposure. The overlying goal is to provide a deeper understanding of this complex biological system that is both stochastic and deterministic in nature. We will successively go through the basic steps, starting with how radiation interacts with molecules and ending with the manifestation of specific cellular damage that might lead to late effects, e.g., cataracts or cancer.
