Abstract

Within the monumental complex of Zone A of Cahuachi, the Templo Sur represents an important building, connected directly to the Gran Pirámide on the east side thereof. This temple was seriously damaged by alluvial phenomena that led to the destruction of most of the ceremonial center, as well as by a very severe earthquake. The function of Templo Sur is similar to that of the other temples, although the anomalous dimension of the structures shows greater monumentality. Since its construction, Templo Sur has had considerable importance in the life of the religious center.
