Abstract

In this paper, we illustrate an innovative detection method integrating hybrid sensors for motorized wheelchairs. By recognizing its surrounding circumstance, it can prevent accidents as well as provide convenience for users. Its sensors are designed to sense obstacles so that the technology is able to control motors to avoid collision or turning over. Using the 8 infrared distance sensors detect 360° of an obstacle. In addition, the controlling of motor's speed based on the distance can avoid obstacle collision safely.
