We are presently using a median nerve surgical neurolysis technique that has been developed to reduce, as much as possible, the anatomical damage that can be incurred to the hand during carpal tunnel syndrome surgery. This technique is both reliable and efficient and renders more than satisfactory results. Our cutaneous incision is a modification and simplification of the incision that has been proposed by Kuhlman-Tubiana-Lisfranc [1 ](Fig.28.1)in 1978,which ran in a zig-zag direction for about 11cm (7cm proximally to the distal transverse wrist crease and 4 cm distally). We have used this type of incision for some years;and progressively have shortened it both distally and proximally. © 2007 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
