Abstract

Designing the data perspective of an information system has benefited greatly from modeling at the conceptual level. From such a model, logical data structures (ERM, Relational, DWH) can be generated automatically. In this paper, we describe how to generate the elementary building blocks of the process perspective from the conceptual data level. Our goal is to derive a complete set of elementary transactions from the elementary fact types and constraints at the conceptual level. Definitions of the required concepts and rules for their basic behavior are given. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
