Abstract

This study verified the hypothesis the Pb dumping operation following the Chernobyl accident resulted in Pb pollution within and outside the 30-km limits of the Chernobyl zone. Bioindicators (lichen, moss, tree bark, pine needle litter) were collected from rural areas away from technol. pollution for this study. Data failed to suggest an elevated Pb pollution level due to this dumping operation. There was no correlation between radioactive contamination and Pb pollution in the study area. [on SciFinder(R)]
