Abstract

This paper evaluates the results of Inspecting a number of gabion-type drop structures designed and constructed by Alberta Environment in the past several years. The evaluation was based on site inspections using an appraisal form especially developed for these structures. Since the design and construction of this type of structure within the province Is relatively new, the evaluation of their performance was considered a necessary step In the design process. The paper gives a brief history, description of structure components, observations made, as well as conclusions and recommendations. A number of these recommendations have been acted upon with the result being an Improvement In the design and operation of gabion-type drop structures. © 1987 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
