Abstract

Trigeminal neuralgia is a disabling disease that is characterized by sharp stabbing unilateral pain that is intermittent in nature. The treatments range from pharmaceutical management to invasive surgical treatments. In addition, stereotactic radiosurgery is a new well-established treatment modality for this complex pathologic process. This chapter summarizes major treatment options from the surgical standpoint. The treatment methods should be individualized to patients with respect to their age, comorbidities, and underlying pathologies.
