This paper is a brief discussion on the equitable utilization of transnational water using lessons learned from the United States Supreme Court rulings. Development and adoption of the UN. Convention on the Law of the Non-Navigational Uses of International Watercourses (the Watercourses Convention) is discussed in Section 3. The principle of equitable utilization contained in the Watercourses Convention, particularly as that principle relates to the equitable apportionment decisions of the US Supreme Court, is reviewed in Section 4. Conclusions are presented in Section 5.
