Abstract

This article aims to develop a typology of presidential Latin American governments as they are determined in the constitutional systems in force in this second decade of the 21st century, how to also determine its institutional weaknesses. In Chile have been raised in the parliamentary field some constitutional reforms to the type of presidentialism goverment what you are designated as approaches to the semi-presidentialism; our hypothesis is that they are only minor variations of pure presidentialism, you are away from the kind of government semi-presidential, which is an alternative feasible and possible to strengthen constitutional democracy in Chile and that it makes it possible to overcome the weaknesses of the Chilean presidentialism.
