Abstract

This paper deals with the regulatory aspects of 5G, considering the recent challenges in Science and Technology with the United States’ decision to ban a Chinese company Huawei to supply 5G products and pressure the western countries to do the same. The hegemonic war in 5G implementation is overlooked, emphasizing the oligopolistic marked surrounded by big techs, namely, Amazon, Apple, Google plus Microsoft, and IBM, in the western hemisphere, and Huawei, Tencent, AliExpress, in the eastern hemisphere. The objective is to discuss the real situation of 5G in the world and the possibilities that are open to peripheral countries. The aspects involved with Artificial Intelligence (AI) development are highlighted because the supremacy in 5G and AI developments are intertwined. The Game Theory is proposed as a methodological guide for the construction of four scenarios called Scenario Restriction, Scenario Contention, Scenario Liberalization, and Scenario Cooperation, which permit to design some considerations about each one.
