Abstract

When there are expected disorders in the female pelvis the use of ultrasonography will continue to be the first method of diagnosis. In order to diagnose malignant tumors of the female pelvis it is efficient to use MRI for evaluating primary lesions and to use CT for lymph node metastases and distant metastases. MRI is much more useful than CT in diagnosing uterine carcinomas, leiomyomas, adenomyomas, endometrial cysts, and benign solid ovarian tumors. With the development of MRI the importance of CT will decrease.
