Growing global competition increases the pressure on the productivity growth in all sectors of industry. One of the responses to these trends is the transition of enterprises to a qualitatively new level driven by the so-called fourth industrial revolution also referred to as Industry 4.0. One of the significant components of the complex Industry 4.0 concept is industrial robotics, undergoing a long-term development. This chapter analyzes the competitiveness of the robotic industry environment from the point of view of companies, public research and development organizations, and government. The analysis is based on data from interviews conducted with the key industry leaders and from desk research. At the end of the chapter, the main system challenges of robotics development and key development policy goals are addressed.
