Abstract

The five transportation modes of highway, railway, waterway, aviation, and pipeline have their own advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of oil and gas pipeline transportation are as follows: transportation cost is lower than railway and highway, and it is not so seriously restricted by geographical position as water transportation; the construction cost is lower than the railway, and the construction period is short; the larger the conveying capacity is, the lower the cost is; it covers a small area; it saves manpower and management cost is low; it saves energy with high safety, little loss, and little pollution; prices are stable and supply is not subjected to the influence of climate and traffic.
