A theoretical equation of state for methane is derived and compared with experimental data. The EOS for the solid phase was constructed from the Debye model. The EOS for the fluid phase was constructed from thermodynamic perturbation theory. Tables of the calculated thermodynamic properties are available for temperatures from 20 to 104 K and for densities up to 2.5 g/cm3. Agreement with experiment is good.
