Poetry as a literary work may carry various messages about humanity and mental conditions. This study compares two poems entitled Reflection and Anxiety, which are inspired by the psychological aspects of a human being. The poems were written by Lang Leav, a female writer who gained popularity through her poetry and prose. By applying the descriptive method in literary research, the comparison of the two poem’s narratives resulted in two findings. First, the similarities between the two poems are revealed by the psychological issues depicted by unusual diction, particularly suggestive phrases, parallelism and repetition to reinforce the message, and antithesis to characterize the paradoxical position. Second, the distinction was identified from the psychological concept demonstrating the emotion established in the poem. The poem “Reflection” shows that when a person can feel calm, they can advise themself to face different life’s obstacles. On the other hand, the poem “Anxiety” describes the psychological disorder that often exists and must be met by compromising the weaknesses and strengths of anxiety
